Gold is found in rock, but over the millenia, water washes the gold into alluvial deposits in rivers and streams. The bulk of gold produced these days is mined in dry places.
Gold is an element, so it is made of gold. It is occasionally found alloyed with mercury or silver.

Gold is found in both wet and try places depending on what type of mining you are doing. Gold can be mined through streams and rivers and also underground mining.
